If your signature looks boring, make it round! People love round things!
(1) Finish your signature.
(2) Make a new layer, do Image > Apply Image
(3) Hide every other layer. You can do this by right-clicking on the eye and selecting "Show/Hide all other layers", or by Alt + Click on the eye.
(4) Select the Shape tool and draw a rounded rectangle (whatever colour). Actually you can draw whatever shape you like but rounded rectangle is conventional. Make sure the edges line up properly.
(5) Put your applied image layer on top of the shape, hold Alt + click in between the two layers so you have a clipping mask.
Now save as PNG to preserve transparency.
If you want to have a rounded border, duplicate the Shape layer, put it on top and set Fill to zero. Then use Blending Options and create an Inner Stroke.
Instead of drawing a shape, you can use a Clipping Mask on your Applied Image layer to paint it whatever shape you like. You can make your character stick out of the sig. It's also fun for avatars.
