1.Light source can be improved ( brightness and intensity more around the head and sword)..

2.You can use lens flare /gradient flare instead of stroking the sword's base with a white colour brush..

Background looks dull , but this will be automatically corrected if the above two steps are taken ...

If that's the case

1. you can try gradient flare (better than lens flare for a sword,at least because it gives glossy and sharpness effect) because it has Rays and Second Flares in addition which will also help to reduce the bg dullness ...

2. OR use lens flare with brush that gives shine effect to sword ( you can make one if you don't have :

The render's golden colour makes itself the light source indeed..So there's no need to add EXTERNAL light source..Adding that ext.light will only spoil the render's beauty..


OR

See the render's hair and upper body part..that clearly suggests that you can safely add an external light source on the upper part of the siggy rather than on the right side
